The project includes:

- Adding protective concrete barriers adjacent to piers
- Replacing bearings
- Cleaning and re-coating the bridge
- Upgrading guardrails adjacent to the bridge
During construction:
- Daytime lane closures may be scheduled on the bridge
- Overnight lane closures may be scheduled on the bridge, as well as the segments of the I-395 general purpose lanes and 395 Express Lanes beneath the bridge
The $5.5 million Shirlington Circle South Rotary Bridge Rehabilitation Project is financed with federal and state funding, including State of Good Repair funds used for bridges.
The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2025.
