Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges July 16-22 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Sunday night, July 16, and Monday night, July 17
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday, July 17
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work and repair. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to reach Route 28 South.
Monday, July 17
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work and repair. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with a detour route.
Monday, July 17, and Tuesday, July 18
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramps will be closed both nights between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. for inspections and noise wall work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. Drivers headed to Braddock Road/Walney Road will then stay left and follow signs to that exit.
Tuesday night, July 18
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage repair. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Tuesday, July 18, and Wednesday, July 19
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed both nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for barrier removal and drainage repair. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 North, travel to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, then stay to the right to I-495 South.
Wednesday, July 19, through Friday, July 21
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday, July 20, and Friday, July 21
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Thursday, July 20, through Saturday, July 22
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Nutley Street, stay to the left and follow the roundabout onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Friday night, July 21
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for bridge painting. Traffic will be detoured farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Route 29 onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with a detour route.
