Overnight Ramp Closures Planned at I-66/I-495 Interchange and I-495/Gallows Road Interchange Next Week
UPDATE: Closure of Ramp from Gallows Road South to I-495 South Rescheduled to Dec. 20 and 21
FAIRFAX – Ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours next week for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Closures are needed for crews to place concrete barrier at the I-66/I-495 Interchange and for underground utility work at the I-495/Gallows Road Interchange.
Details include:
Monday, Dec. 9
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
- The ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East will be closed Monday night, Dec. 9, from midnight to 4 a.m. for crews to set concrete barrier. Drivers will be directed to I-66 West to Route 243 (Nutley Street) South, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Wednesday, Dec. 11
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 South Express Lanes
- The ramp from eastbound I-66 to the southbound I-495 Express Lanes will be closed for crews to shift lanes, and set concrete barrier from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Drivers will be directed to use the I-495 South general-purpose lanes.
Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14
UPDATE: Ramp Closure Rescheduled to Dec. 20 and 21
Ramp from Gallows Road South to I-495 South
- The ramp from southbound Gallows Road to I-495 South (Outer Loop) will be closed Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Drivers will be directed to continue south on Gallows Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn under police direction at the traffic signal for I-495 North, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 South.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.
