EXPECT OVERNIGHT DELAYS ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND IN STAFFORD
All I-95 southbound traffic will be stopped intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. early Wednesday, Sept. 2 to allow crews to move a crane north of Exit 133 (Route 17)
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – All Interstate 95 southbound traffic will be stopped intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. early Wednesday, Sept. 2 to allow crews to move a crane across the interstate north of Exit 133 (Route 17) in Stafford County.
Overnight travelers should anticipate delays on I-95 southbound starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1. Weather permitting, I-95 southbound will be reduced to one lane at that time near Exit 133 to allow crews to prepare for the full traffic stops.
Crews are moving a crane into position for construction of the Route 652 (Truslow Road) overpass as part of the I-95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.
Traffic may be stopped up to 30 minutes at a time. In between each stop, congestion will be allowed to clear before the next full stop.
Lane closures on I-95 southbound are scheduled at the following times:
Tuesday, Sept. 1 – Wednesday, Sept. 2
- 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – Double lane closure
- Midnight to 3 a.m. – Intermittent full traffic stops up to 30 minutes
- 4:30 a.m. – All lanes open
If there is inclement weather Tuesday night, the full traffic stops will be rescheduled to the following morning, Thursday, Sept. 3.
Message boards will be posted along I-95 southbound to alert motorists to delays ahead.
Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control in the work zone.
