MORE WINTRY WEATHER ON THE WAY
Drivers in the Culpeper District could see icy patches on roadways

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation is warning drivers to watch for slick spots on the roadways starting tonight and into Thursday morning.  The weather forecast is calling for a mixture of snow and rain, and while temperatures are not expected to dip below freezing, some roadways could still have icy spots.

Interstate 66 in Fauquier County and I-64 in Louisa and Albemarle counties are both clear as of Wednesday afternoon.  State-maintained secondary roads are also mostly clear and warmer temperatures are helping to melt leftover snow and ice from last weekend’s storm, but hazardous conditions could still exist; especially on bridges, ramps, overpasses, crossovers.

Visit 511Virginia.org for the latest road conditions before traveling.

VDOT’s Customer Service Center is open 24 hours a day to answer questions and take reports of roadway hazards. Call 1-800-FOR-ROAD (367-7623) or contact us online at https://my.vdot.virginia.gov.

Additional information about winter-weather preparations and response can be found at www.virginiadot.org/travel/snow.asp. Local updates are posted to Twitter.com/VaDOTCulp.
